Silicon Beach

It sounds like the follow-up series to Melrose Place, but Silicon Beach is — or at least aspires to be — the L.A. equivalent of Silicon Valley. On the stretch of land known as Playa Vista, Belkin has its headquarters, and Yahoo is about to occupy 130,000 square feet. YouTube is here, and soon its parent company, Google, will be, too. The Beach has upended traffic patterns, jacked up real estate prices, features no buildings of architectural merit, and is one more sign that the tech and entertainment industries have found common ground. —
